From a practical standpoint, a first look can make your wedding day feel much less rushed. Because you've already seen each other, we can photograph many of your couple portraits, wedding party photos, and even some family portraits before the ceremony. That often means spending less time taking photos during cocktail hour and more time celebrating with your guests. It also gives us greater flexibility if your ceremony is later in the day or daylight is limited.
Beautiful, Genuine Reactions
As a photographer, one of my favourite parts of a first look is how authentic it feels. There's no audience and no pressure. You can react however feels natural—whether that's tears, laughter, a huge smile, or simply standing together for a quiet moment. Those genuine reactions often become some of the most treasured photographs from the entire wedding day.
Is a First Look Right for You?
Not every couple chooses one, and that's perfectly okay. If you've dreamed of seeing each other for the first time at the altar, that's a beautiful tradition worth keeping. But if having a quiet, intimate moment together before the ceremony sounds meaningful, a first look may be one of the best decisions you make for your wedding day.
